GHTC Submits Letter to OMB encouraging support for global health R&D in FY24

GHTC submitted a letter to the White House Office of Management and Budget OMB highlighting the critical role of US programs that support global health research and development (R&D) and encouraging continued support for this important work in the fiscal year 2024 (FY24) budget request, including the creation of a new Supporting Innovative Global Health Technologies Fund at the US Agency for International Development.

New report credits WHO with reforms that accelerate access to health innovations, but finds “pain points” persist that slow product reviews

Reforms to a World Health Organization (WHO) program that focuses on certifying the safety and efficacy of health products have accelerated access to these innovations in low- and middle-income countries, yet the program continues to struggle with challenging processes and practices that could lead to unnecessary delays. This is the central finding of a new report released by GHTC and the Duke Global Health Innovation Center that examines the WHO prequalification program.
