This year’s WHO Executive Board forum took incremental steps toward reforming the world’s health preparedness architecture but left observers with more questions than answers.
GHTC responded to a request for feedback on the discussion draft of the Senate Prepare for and Respond to Existing Viruses, Emerging New Threats, and Pandemics Act (PREVENT Pandemics Act). GHTC's input calls for the needs of low-resource settings to be considered more directly in product design; for greater coordination between domestic, regional, and multilateral R&D actors; for the inclusion of the US Agency for International Development and Department of Defense in cross-agency preparedness planning; and expanded US support for strengthening global manufacturing capacity.
