Johnpaul Omollo, MPH

Johnpaul Omollo is the Africa Regional Lead for R&D Policy and advocacy work at PATH. He is a passionate health professional and a health Policy analysist with over a decade of experience in health systems strengthening, health policy advocacy, government relations, communications, and overall program management, monitoring and evaluation. In his current role, he leads advocacy work in Africa on Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Regulation of medical products, Pandemic prevention preparedness and response and Health Research and Development. He has served in various senior positions both at policy and implementation levels. 

Prior to Joining PATH, he served at the Health NGOs Network (HENNET) as the National Coordinator (CEO) coordinating and leading over 115 health NGOs in Kenya. Prior to that, he served as the Health Systems Strengthening Officer at LVCT-Health, where he supported local organizations to strengthen their health systems and structures for sustainability.  Before that he worked at the American Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) based in Kisumu-Kenya as the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Officer in an influenza effectiveness study. Mr Omollo was a member of the Universal Health Coverage, Health Benefits Advisory Panel (UHC-HBAP), a Task Team set up by the Government of Kenya and charged with the responsibility of designing an affordable, responsive health benefits package for the delivery of Universal Health Coverage in Kenya. He currently also serves as a member of the Medicines Policy and Regulatory Reforms Technical Committee under the African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization initiative. He is an advisor to the Africa Union COVID 19 Commission on local pharmaceutical manufacturing and also sits in the Kenya local manufacturing task force.  He previously served on the global Gavi CSOs steering committee and the global financing facility civil society steering committee. He holds a Master’s in Public Health.
