On February 5, President Trump delivered his second State of the Union address. Among the long list of policy proposals and pledges in the speech was one of great interest to the global health research community—an announcement of a new whole-of-government plan to eliminate HIV transmission in the United States by 2030.

GHTC issues statement on ending tuberculosis at WHO Executive Board meeting

GHTC issued a statement at the 144th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board urging Member States to realign National TB Strategic Plans, including on research and development, to fulfill the commitments of the High-Level Meeting (HLM) on Tuberculosis. The statement, which was issued in partnership with the Global Health Council, American Academy of Pediatrics, and ACTION, welcomed the HLM's attention to the neglected needs of children, which affects approximately one million children annually.

GHTC issues statement on equitable access to medicines at WHO Executive Board meeting

GHTC issued a statement at the 144th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board supporting the ongoing efforts of WHO to increase equitable access to medicines, vaccines, and other health products. The statement, which was issued in partnership with the Global Health Council, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and NCD Child, encourages WHO to support a comprehensive approach to improving access that considers affordability, acceptability, availability, and quality.
