GHTC condemns President’s proposed cuts to global health and medical research

GHTC condemns President Trump’s fiscal year 2021 budget request seeking deep cuts to global health and medical research programs. The budget proposes a 34 percent cut to global health programs at the US Agency for International Development and the State Department, as well as significant cuts to public health and research agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services.

GHTC delivers statement on Nagoya Protocol at WHO Executive Board Meeting

GHTC delivered a statement at the 146th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board calling on WHO to continue assessing the impact of the Nagoya Protocol and national implementing legislation on public health. The statement, issued through the Global Health Council, encourages WHO to conduct a review of all existing legislation and provisions governing international sample and pathogen sharing to present a fuller picture of potential impact.

GHTC delivers statement on global strategy on health, innovation, and IP at WHO Executive Board Meeting

GHTC delivered a statement at the 146th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board welcoming WHO efforts to address barriers to access to quality, affordable health products and urging the expansion of the essential diagnostics list as part of these efforts. The statement, issued through the Global Health Council, also encourages WHO and member states to support regulatory capacity strengthening and to better leverage the expertise of product development partnerships.
