Obama administration releases strategy to meet Millennium Development Goals
The Obama Administration recently released its strategy to meet the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, eight commitments to reduce poverty and disease worldwide by 2015. The strategy—released by Rajiv Shah, head of the US Agency for International Development (USAID)—emphasizes using innovation, including leveraging new tools, stimulating ideas throughout the developing world, and broadening access to knowledge. “This strategy takes a hard look at what needs to happen to put these important goals within reach,” Shah said, adding, “We put innovation and sustainability at the heart of our approach and we address these core human development indicators comprehensively in order to leverage their cross-cutting synergies.” See the links below for more information.
