Op-ed piece calls for bipartisan support for medical research

May 25, 2011 -- Kaitlin Christenson, director of the Global Health Technologies Coalition and Michael Castle, former US representative from Delaware, discuss the bipartisan nature of support for medical research in an opinion piece that runs in Roll Call today. The opinion piece points to the historical support the US Government has shown for medical research and significant milestones achieved due to continued US Government funding. Christenson and Castle argue that in this tough economic climate, it is important to maintain the historical bipartisan support for global health research, noting several recent breakthroughs. “So, we have success, we have savings and we have more jobs created because of this wave of global health research and development. In a time when bipartisanship may seem a relic from days past, there’s an enormous opportunity for wise heads on both sides of the aisle to put aside political differences on this particular issue.” See link below for more information.
