New fact sheets available on the CDC, Georgia and global health R&D
August 12, 2011 -- Research!America has just released new fact sheets on global health research and development (R&D) in Georgia and at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Georgia fact sheet highlights jobs creation, health impacts, and partnerships resulting from Georgia’s global health sector. According to the fact sheet, about 74% of Georgians believe global health R&D is important to the state’s economy. In addition, public and private investment in global health R&D has produced tens of thousands of jobs in medicine, research, public health and education in the state.
The CDC fact sheet details the partnerships and research that has led to global health breakthroughs for improved health, treatment and, prevention in the United States and around the world. For example, the CDC is the largest single donor to global avian flu and pandemic preparedness efforts. The agency also employs more than 11,000 people in the United States alone.
