Senate committee approves state, foreign operations appropriations bill

The Senate Appropriations Committee, on Friday, approved the fiscal year (FY) 2011 budget bill for state and foreign operations. The bill would allocate $54.06 billion for state and foreign operations, $2.6 billion below President Obama’s request and $5.29 billion above FY 2010 enacted levels. In addition, the bill would provide $8.239 billion for global health funding, compared with President Obama’s request of $8.513 billion for global health. The Senate Appropriations Committee on Friday also approved the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill, which would provide $169.6 billion in funding for several US health agencies.
