Coalition releases recommendations to improve US foreign aid
Global Washington—a coalition of 120 groups working in international development based in Seattle, Washington—has released a set of recommendations to improve the efficacy US foreign aid. The recommendations include:
- Creating a national strategy to clarify the goals of foreign aid.
- Aligning foreign aid with United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
- Providing the US Agency for International Development with more autonomy from the Departments of State and Defense.
- Basing aid on recipients' priorities and proportionally targeting countries most in need.
