US Secretary of State calls for enhanced USAID role in global development research
US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton recently said that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) should become the "premier development research agency in the world." She added that there are several "game-changing technologies that the United States can help develop and then to spread and implement," and that the country is pursuing innovative financing mechanisms to encourage private-sector investment in development research.
