Administration, global health officials discuss GHI details, implementation
Several Obama Administration officials—including Ann Gavaghan, chief of staff at the Office of the US Global AIDS Coordinator, Amie Batson, deputy assistant administrator for global health at the US Agency for International Development, and Deborah Birx, director of the Global AIDS Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention—joined Dr. Christopher J. Elias, PATH's president and CEO, and Jen Kates, Vice President and Director of Global Health Policy and HIV at the Kaiser Family Foundation, for a discussion of the administration’s new Global Health Initiative (GHI).
In addition to discussing implementation and other details of the GHI, panelists also examined the importance of research and development in the US response to global health challenges. See the links below for more information.
