FDA, NIH launch partnership to accelerate decisions on advanced research products
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have announced a new partnership to speed FDA safety and efficacy decisions on new products that result from advanced research. According to NIH Director Francis Collins, some research compounds could be used as part of combination therapies, a relatively new approach for diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
