Flightless mosquito could help curb spread of dengue

A new study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reveals how scientists are attempting to breed a genetically altered female mosquito that cannot fly. Diseases such as dengue fever are spread through the bite of female mosquitoes, and the scientists believe that the flightless insects could suppress native populations if released. See the news articles below for more information.
