GHTC video series highlights why Americans should care about global health innovation

November 7, 2011 --  Today, the GlobalPost’s “Global Pulse”blog posted a series of video interviews that the GHTC conducted with prominent Americans and leading US health officials about why Americans should care about global health and research.

The series was released ahead of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s upcoming speech on the HIV/AIDS pandemic at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). On Tuesday, Clinton is expected to highlight US leadership in research and innovation for HIV/AIDS, particularly in developing treatment and prevention tools. Against that backdrop, the GHTC released the series to highlight the issues of global health and research.
The video series includes responses from actress Whoopi Goldberg; Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.); US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg; and Amie Batson, Deputy Assistant Administrator for Global Health at the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
